Kearneysville data center campus

Data center

A data center campus planned on a 300-acre property near Kearneysville that is split between Berkeley and Jefferson counties. Two data center buildings would go on a 90-acre parcel in Berkeley County, with a narrow parcel for access from Charles Town Road (Route 115). A third, 191-acre parcel in Jefferson County is zoned for industrial use.

The Berkeley County Planning Commission approved the concept plan for the Berkeley parcels in March 2025. The plan includes two data center buildings, an electrical switching station, a water tank and stormwater ponds. The site has access to a natural gas pipeline and two high-capacity transmission lines, and Berkeley County would provide water and sewer for the first phase.

The Observer’s questions about the project were directed to QTS, a data center development company, which said it was “in the initial stages of planning.”
